Topographical and Volume Surveys

Topographical and volume surveys are about establishing the contours and heights of features of the land. For example, ground levels, fences, trees, buildings, and drainage on the property. Topographical and volume surveys are generally required before subdivision, development, or building is undertaken.

Topographical surveys can also record the position of power, telephone, drainage, roads and water supply services. From topographical surveys, volumes can be calculated and are frequently required to establish stockpile volumes, resources available for extraction (e.g. sand and metal), and volumes of earthworks required for constructing roads and platforms.

Topographical surveys can also be undertaken from a boat with GPS and depth sounding equipment to record the beds of rivers and lakes, seas, and flooded quarries.

What is involved?
Topographical surveys vary greatly in the time taken to completion. This may be as little as a few days for a residential building platform, or can be ongoing for major commercial projects.

Generally no other party contributions are required, and McCracken Surveys can carry out all parts of the survey.
